My basic level of modding is simply to download a mod and edit the mod's iwd file. However, sometimes when I edit a character file, or aitype file or weapon file and replace one character/weapon model with another and then go to play a certain level, instead either the model does not show up and/or a weapon only appears as a pink cowbell, or the mission crashes to the menu with a notice that says that the model isn't loaded or the script doesn't recognize it.
So, what I'm asking is, how do I load whatever model I want into any level, and is there a step by step tutorial or guide on what to do so I know where to find what to edit and make sure it's done properly? Along with wanting to load character and weapon models, I also wish to know how to replace vehicles, like switching a tank for another tank.
I ask this question for both COD WAW and COD 4.
