You still need to patch your game ! I'm not quite sure, but I think there isn't a method to use mw2 mods with steam!

I have the game on steam but what other sites sell it so I can buy it off their and just use mods on that?

If you buy mw2 somewhere else you will use the same steam servers too.

Well, i think you need an older verison of the game as steam has updated MW2 and patched all injector's.

Just search up older versions on youtube
and make sure to disable auto-updates.
