“The original Modern Warfare raised the bar on video games and forever will be remembered as one of the best. It’s an honor to be developing the remaster and we are committed to faithfully remastering this classic for Call of Duty fans.”
- Brian Raffel, studio head of Raven Software.
Quick Official Information
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered boasts vibrant current generation visuals, with fully improved texture resolution and detail, high-dynamic range lighting, lit and shadowing VFX particles, revamped animation and audio, stunning sound, and much more. Fans will relive the full, iconic campaign as they’re transported around the globe with Capt. Price, Gaz and Soap across all the missions from the original game, including “All Ghillied Up,” “Charlie Don’t Surf,” and “Crew Expendable.” Players will also experience the online multiplayer mode that redefined Call of Duty by introducing killstreaks, XP, Prestige and more, and battle head-to-head in 10 fan-favorite maps from the original multiplayer mode, including classics such as “Crash,” “Backlot” and “Crossfire.”
Activision has also revealed three out of the 10 multiplayer maps that will be available in the MW Remastered’s MP mode: fan favorites Crash, Backlot, and Crossfire are confirmed to be returning.
The game itself will remain true to the original in terms of gameplay, guns, killstreaks and so forth. Maps and modes will remain unchanged mechanically, even while the game itself will look remarkably better.
What Does 'Remastered' Mean?
Remaster (also digital remastering and digitally remastered) refers to enhancing the quality of the sound or of the image, or both, of previously created recordings, either audiophonic, cinematic, or videographic.
So in terms, the game goes under a cosmetic development. The models for the game are completely re-done in some cases, and in others there are NO changes at all. The reason why Infinity Ward/Raven chose to do a Remaster instead of making the title backwards compatible.. Is simply due to the condition of the game on last gen servers. Their game was destroyed, so their only logical solution was to Remaster the title for Next Gen Consoles Only! No more 'Un-Fair' Mods, with this Remastered Version they finally get to see their original dream come true. This is a huge step for Call of Duty, no more mods, recoveries, ect..

Future DLC's
9 years later after the release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, we’re finally getting the remaster we’ve all been waiting for.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is going to be a huge release for Activision/Infinity Ward alongside their new upcoming title ‘Infinite Warfare’. With the amount of anticipation and hype surrounding a remaster, Activision are essentially releasing 2 huge Call of Duty titles in one go this November.
With so much interest surrounding the Modern Warfare remaster, it does open the question… Could Activision take advantage of the Modern Warfare Remaster and introduce DLC? Potentially also implement the Supply Drop system?
Since it’s going to be a full remaster, and not a port, it would potentially make complete sense to prolong the hype and keep players coming back by releasing DLC map packs. We could for example see 1 new Modern Warfare map including within each Infinite Warfare DLC map pack as part of the .
By releasing DLC for both games, it would please both groups of players who prefer to either play the remaster or Infinite Warfare. This of course opens the question of player-base fragmentation across the 2 titles.
